Ingredients -
For Mutton:
- Onions - 3
- Tomatoes - 3
- Cumin seeds - 1/2 tsp
- Pepper (whole) - 1/4 tsp
- Dalchini - 2 sticks
- Cloves - 4-5
- Cardamom -4-5
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Mutton - 250 gms (boneless, cut into cubes)
- Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
- Chilli powder - 2 tsp
- Dhaniya powder - 2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Oil - 3 tsp
- Water - 1 glass
For Wheat Mix:
- Wheat - 250 gms (grounded)
- Rice - 2 fists
- Moong dal - 1 fist
- Chana dal - 1 fist
- Tur dal - 1 fist
- Urad dal - 1 fist
- Tomatoes - 2 (big)
- Ginger garlic paste - 1 tsp
- Green chili paste - 1 tsp
- Cumin seeds - 1 tsp
- Pepper (whole) - 1/3 tsp
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Water - 3 glasses
- Chat masala - 2 tbsp
- Salt - to taste
- Lemon - 2
- Boiled potato halves - 8-10
- Coriander leaves - 1 bowl
- Fried onions - 1 bowl
Procedure -
For Mutton:
- Heat oil in a pressure cooker, add onions, all the whole spices and fry till the onions are translucent.
- Then add tomatoes, ginger garlic paste, turmeric powder, mutton and water and cook until meat tenders.
- Now open the cooker, add chili powder, dhaniya powder and salt and cook stirring occasionally until onions are mashed completely.
- Add 1/2 glass water if needed.
- Keep aside.
For Wheat Mix:
- In a pressure cooker, put wheat, rice, all dals, ginger garlic paste, green chili paste, tomatoes, cumin seeds, peppers, turmeric powder and water and cook until this tenders.
- Blend into a semi-smooth paste and keep aside.
For Khicda:
- In a big bowl. mix the wheat mixture and the mutton together.
- Now add salt, lemon juice, chat masala, potato halves and coriander leaves.
- Add 1 glass water and simmer for 15-20 minutes on low flame(covered).
- Serve hot garnished with coriander leaves, fried onions and lemon wedges.
