Sponge Cake
VANILLA SPONGE CAKE:
Ingredients -
- Maida - 1 cup
- Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- Baking soda - 1/3 tsp
- Castor sugar - 6 tbsp
- Vanilla essence - 1/2 tsp
- Eggs - 3
Procedure -
- Mix maida, baking powder and baking soda. Sieve and keep aside.
- Beat the sugar and eggs until very fluffy with an electric beater. Very lightly and gently, add essence and all the other ingredients with the help of a wooden spoon in the "cut & fold" movement and pour into a greased tin.
- Bake at 180C for 25-30 mins in a pre-heated oven until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
CHOCOLATE SPONGE CAKE:
Ingredients -
- Maida - 2/3rd cup
- Cocoa powder - 2 tbsp or 1/3 cup
- Baking powder - 1/2 tsp
- Baking soda - 1/3 tsp
- Castor sugar - 6 tbsp
- Chocolate essence - 1/2 tsp
- Eggs - 3
Procedure -
- Mix maida, cocoa powder, baking powder and baking soda. Sieve and keep aside.
