Ingredients -
For batter:
- Besan (gram) flour - 2 cups
- Salt - to taste
- Soda bicard - 1/4 tsp
- Roasted zeera powder - 2/3 tsp
- Water - 1 cup
For filling :
- Potaoes - 4
- Ginger paste - 1/2 tsp
- Green chili paste - 1/2 tsp
- Salt - to taste
- Coriander leaves - few
- Lemon - 1
- Curry leaves - few
- Turmeric powder - 1/2 tsp
- Rai (mustard seeds) - 1/4 tsp
- Oil - 2 tsp & to deep fry
Procedure -
For batter:
- Add all the ingredients to gram flour and make a thick batter and keep aside.
For filling:
- Boil potatoes and mash them. Then add ginger paste, chili paste, salt, coriander leaves and lemon juice and mix well.
- Heat 2 tsp oil, when hot add mustard seeds, curry leaves and turmeric powder and add this to the potato mixture.
- Mix well and shape into small balls applying a little oil on your palms to prevent potato mixture sticking to your hands.
For kachoris:
- Heat oil in a kadhai, dip each ball in the batter and deep fry until golden brown.
- Serve hot with green chutney or tomato ketchup.
